Written as an imaginary biography of Matisse’s visit to Tangier. There he attempts to be inspired and gets frustrated with his many tries. Finally, he avidly paints a woman who tells him a tale. The tale turns out to be her own life story and the ending is bittersweet.
She thought that Matisse will save her from her predicament which does not happen.
